Restoration Starts 30/10/2012
So we finally decided the best corse of action.
We will be:
Removing both the rear quarter panels and replacing them with new.
Removing the sills and doing a better job of welding them in.
replacing the front wings with ph1 style
replacing bonnet with ph1 style
replacing hockey sticks with ph1 style
replacing indicators with ph1 style.
gsi front bumper replacement
Removing and replacing the front subframe
and once we're happy a bare metal respray in Night Fire Red.
All before Christmas, leaving plenty of time for engine and suspension work.

Now the interior is out its time to turn our attention to the bodges.
This is the gearbox stabiliser mount and should have a flexible bush in it as well. So first job was to remove this, seeing as the engine is coming out shortly i haven't bothered adding the new one.
This mount connects directly to the front sub frame so once the new one arrives I'll transfer it over.
Total cost £50 for mount, stabiliser and front sub frame.

And so the disruption begins
And so the disruption begins, and we see just how bad this car really is.
Lets start with the good, nothing really to report, everything came off in one piece.
Now the bad bits:
dented and slightly slanted sub frame
Smashed in front passenger side
For some reason a cut or split in the front panel
and the most concerning part, the engine doesn't seem to be straight.
So all in all, gulp!
Thanks to mike for the help on the heavy bits and interior.
